There's a lot of my tafe work i haven't uploaded on here, mostly because the majority of it is a little boring, and the other big reason being its size. Most of its on a3 paper while my scanner is a4 size, and i know theres ways to scan it and stitch it together and stuff but since that's such a hassle ive kind of avoided it because i'm lazy.
However this drawing was done full size on A3 but scanned it at tafe on one of the big scanners they have, so i could shrink it down and re-print several copies on a4 to do colour tests.
This was part of my illustration project that i never got to finish because of the whole dropping out thing (hey if my whole course would have been illustration i probably would have stayed) where we had to choose a fruit, draw the fruit and its flower, and arrange it with typography into a nice visual illustration (complete with generic paragraph of text talking about our fruit and such). I chose a raspberry, and this is a raspberry flower.
Top image is my drawing on water colour paper, plain pencil.
Next is coloured pencil on plain paper.
Under that is where i printed out my pencil work in light green and coloured over the top in coloured pencils.
and lastly the one at the bottom is done in copic markers
These were just tests to gauge what medium would be best to continue on with my final piece, but i never got around to doing that.
Of course these were referenced from a photograph, but i do enjoy that sort of thing. When what your drawing is right there in front of you and you just have to draw what you see, i find it easy and relaxing, especially when it's flowers and still life's. My favourite art class warmup projects are when the teachers just arrange a bunch of objects in the middle of the classroom and everyone sits around and just draws it. I know so many people who hate that kind of thing though haha.
